Exceptional medical education demands exceptional hands-on training. In our Physician Assistant Studies program, you'll work with patients in an unprecedented 12 clinical specialty rotations. During the clinical phase, you will be paired with and learn alongside preeminent doctors, PAs, and other clinicians affiliated with our clinical site partners, including many local and regional hospital systems and private practices.
You have the benefit of high-tech classrooms and laboratories – the very best places to learn. Our wing includes two physician assistant classrooms, a high-fidelity medical simulation center, and a physical examination laboratory that mimics the most modern facilities. You'll also study human gross anatomy at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in its award-winning medical education building in downtown Providence. Anatomy will be reviewed on our own digital cadaver Anatomage.
And because health care is big business, our program introduces you to the eight management principles of medical practice – from quality management to organizational governance. This unique focus on business fundamentals, so critical in today’s health care reform environment, is your competitive advantage.

The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the Bryant University Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Bryant University. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards.
Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the Standards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be June 2028. The review date is contingent upon continued compliance with the Accreditation Standards and ARC-PA policy.

The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Lifespan, CharterCARE, Care New England, Milford Regional Medical Center, Steward Health Care, Sturdy Memorial Hospital, The LBJ Tropical Medical Center, and many private practices throughout Rhode Island and the surrounding region.
You must have a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution completed by Oct.1, 2020. (There is no preferred major.)
You will need an overall undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0. Also, you will need to have completed the following prerequisite courses by Oct. 1, 2020, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 overall for these prerequisite courses and a "C" or better in each class:
Biology with lab: 8SH
Chemistry with lab: 8SH
Human Anatomy and Physiology with lab: 8SH
Organic Chemistry with lab (4 SH) or Biochemistry (3 SH)
We do not accept Advanced Placement/CLEP coursework to fulfill prerequisite requirements, The Bryant Physician Assistant Program does not accept transfer credits to be applied to required Program coursework and does not award Advanced Placement based on prior coursework.
Your application process begins when you submit an online CASPA application as early as April 30, 2020. You then must complete a supplemental Bryant University Physician Assistant Program Application available via CASPA. your entire completed application must be "verified" by CASPA by Oct. 1, 2020, for you application to be considered. Be advised that the Bryant University PA Program operates on a rolling admission basis.
You also will need: Three professional letters of reference; one personal reference; completion of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) within the past five years (submit score to CASPA using Bryant’s PA Program Code: 8825); documentation of at least 2,000 hours of direct patient care which must be obtained by October 1, 2020*; and the ability to meet the program technical standards with or without reasonable accommodations. Selected candidates will attend an on-site interview, and if admitted, undergo a background check. All matriculating students are required to obtain BLS for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association) prior to entering the Program and are responsible for maintaining this AHA BLS certification through graduation.
International applicants must complete the TOEFL within 2 years of application with a score greater than 100, unless they have completed a baccalaureate degree in the United States. A certified degree and course-by-course evaluation of foreign transcripts is required to ascertain equivalences to United States educational standards.
The Bryant University Physician Assistant Program developed its mission and goals to reflect our commitment to help decrease health care disparities and increase access to health care for currently underserved populations. Our strategy to accomplish this goal is to support the admission and enrollment of future clinicians who have demonstrated a similar commitment to these philosophies. While the program does not extend preference to any particular individual or group, application materials are scored during the file review and interview process using a scoring system that awards points to any applicant demonstrating evidence of a commitment to the philosophies embodied by the program’s mission and goals.
* Examples of direct patient care experience includes, but is not necessarily limited to: military medics, corpsmen, health service technicians, and medical technicians; nurses, emergency medical technicians and paramedics; emergency department technicians; medical scribes; physical and occupational therapists; respiratory therapists; medical assistants
April 30, 2020: CASPA application cycle opens for the Class of 2023
October 1, 2020: Application cycle closes; verified application must be submitted by midnight on this date
January 4, 2021: Class of 2023 matriculates
Physical abilities: In very basic terms, the physician assistant student must be able to carry out the physical tasks necessary to elicit a patient’s history and perform a physical exam, including the ability to observe/see the patient and physical exam findings, hear physical exam findings such as lung and cardiac sounds, and the coordination and manual dexterity to examine the patient such as palpation of the abdomen and to use the medical equipment routine to patient encounters such as a stethoscope. Additionally, the student must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time necessary for the surgical rotations and have the strength necessary to provide emergent interventions such as CPR.
Cognitive abilities: The physician assistant student must have the cognitive abilities required to elicit and understand a patient’s history, obtain and interpret physical exam findings, formulate a reasonable assessment and partner with the patient in the development of diagnostic and treatment plans. The student must also therefore be able to learn and understand, remember and apply the course content necessary to care for patients.
Behavioral abilities: The physician assistant student must have the behavioral abilities, including the interpersonal and communication skills, required for interacting with patients, the supervising physician, and other members of the health care team to be able to deliver care in a patient-centered, professional, ethically sound manner.
Loan forgiveness may be available for physician assistants who quality; some programs in Rhode Island include the State of Rhode Island Department of Health – Health Professions Loan Repayment; and the Rhode Island Student Loan Authority (RISLA) – Primary Care Practitioner Loan Forgiveness Program.
The Bryant University Bursar will handle tuition refunds. Deposit and fees will not be refunded.
A student withdrawing from Bryant must contact the Registrar's Office and the Program Director in writing and complete a voluntary withdrawal form in order for his/her withdrawal to be official.
Tuition refunds will be calculated as follows: If written notification is received by the Registrar's Office and the PA Program Director by the:
1st week of classes: 80%
2nd week of classes: 60%
3rd week of classes: 40%
4th week of classes: 20%
After 4th week of classes: no refund
